Duration: 10 - 12 hours.

Route 430 km / 60% Offroad.

The tour take us on a bit of a drive well into the highland to The Nature Reserve Of Landmannalaugar.  (click on Brennisteinsalda Volcano, Mount Bláhnjúkur, the third lowest pane on the left side of the screen to see the area.)

On our way to the reserve we drive past the roots of Hekla volcano, perhaps one of the best known volcanos on the island. The reserve is an unique place in a geological aspect. The bedrock in the ares consists mainly of Rhyolite, a sour rock known for it‘s   variable colors, red, yellow, green and blue, coloring the landscape just for our pleasure. A geological fireworks. Fresh lavafields cover parts of the area waiting to take us on a leisurly walk.

After perhaps a short hike into the lavafileld and the mountains we can take a dip into a natural hot spring we find in the area, a popular thing for icelanders to do at least. So bring your bathing suit and a towel.

Then a bit different route back to Reykjavík. On the way we drive up to Ljótipollur,   a volcanic crater on the way. Then on to Háifoss, the island‘s second higest waterfall and on through   a small beautyful guilly on the way. We have the opportunity to visit an Old Viking Farm Replica to see how the vikings lived before television and then the route back to Reykjavík perhaps for your visit to The Fiskifélagið restaurant.

Note. To spend the night in the area after the tour and take The Golden Circle Tour or The South Coast Tour the day after with perhaps some activity would be a perfect. Activity like Snowmobiling, Glacier Walk, River Rafting, River Jet Boat, Dogsledding.
